Case Study Fudge Kitchen - from strength to strength with Primary Authority
"We started out as Jim Garrahy’s Fudge Kitchen back in 1983; since then the business has gone from strength to strength. We now have 7 stores across the UK, making their own fudge, plus an online shop. We pride ourselves on producing great tasting food, winning many awards for our fudge including 15 Great Taste awards.
We are always striving to push the business forward, to develop new products and exploit new opportunities. In January 2017 we entered into Primary Authority (PA) as we felt that having the support of a Local Authority best prepared us to face new challenges"
"Since entering into the partnership we have enjoyed a productive relationship with an excellent and fast service; we know that we can pick up the phone and speak to someone who knows our business, knows our product and understands the time pressure we're often under. On more than one occasion a single telephone conversation has saved the business money and allowed us to make the most of business opportunities.
Our dedicated PA officer has been invaluable in advising on legal compliance and label design. He is happy to sign off on labels before they go for print, so we know that our products can be traded legally across the UK and there is someone to negotiate for us if another authority says otherwise."
"Complicated requirements are explained in a very simple and straightforward manner, presenting advice in a way that up skills our staff for future label design. This is invaluable to an SME with one eye always on overheads.
Most recently our Primary Authority has assisted us to devise production controls so we can confidently claim ‘gluten free’ on our products.
Like the business, I feel our Primary Authority partnership will go from strength to strength."
